Graduation Ceremony

OUR HISTORY

From humble beginnings, Leander schools started with a little log building in 1855. The original schoolhouse had one room and one teacher. Parents paid what they could afford, and the community kept the schools going and growing. In the 1980s, an 8 million dollar bond was passed to create Leander High School, which housed 1200 students.

LEANDER ISD TODAY

Today, we have over 41,000 students and 45 diverse schools. The district is part of the 3rd largest market sector in our area and employs over 5,300 professionals who improve the lives of our children every day. Our kids participate in a wide array of academic and athletic activities, from becoming national merit scholars to winning state and national championships, and every imaginable accolade in between.

OUR COMMUNITY

Leander ISD connects us to our community through the truly unique relationships educators establish. Students, families, and teachers join together to cultivate the next generation of incredible Americans. Families and teachers work side by side to ensure that all of our students have a safe and supportive environment, which allows our scholars to thrive and succeed.

Together, we nourish future leaders and lifelong relationships that create strong communities and neighborhoods. Leander ISD builds bonds that focus on both the heart and the home. When a student graduates, our entire community celebrates the joy of a lifetime of accomplishments that began in elementary school and will continue after high school. Working together, the possibilities are endless. Uniting for Students, Families, and Teachers - We are All In LISD.

VALUES

As parents, educators, and students, we believe public education is central to our community. Our strong school district not only provides for an amazing educational experience, it also contributes to the economic development of the greater Leander area.

Our children should have a school district that gives them the freedom to learn and pursue their dreams. Our students deserve an accurate, honest, and quality education, no matter their background. By speaking up at school boards, contacting our elected leaders, and voting to fully fund our schools, we can ensure that all of our children have the quality education they deserve.
